Jewellery Care
Our jewellery is built for daily life, so caring for it takes almost no effort. A few small habits keep it looking the way it did on the day it arrived.
The one rule worth remembering
Last on, first off. Put your jewellery on after your moisturiser, perfume and hairspray, and take it off before anything harsh. Those products are what dull a finish, far more than water ever will.
Cleaning
- Wipe pieces now and then with a soft dry cloth. That is usually all they need.
- For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, then rinse and dry completely with a soft cloth.
- Dry properly before putting a piece away. Trapped moisture is the one thing worth avoiding.
- Skip silver dips, toothpaste and abrasive cleaners. They strip plating.
Storing
- Keep pieces apart so chains do not tangle and stones do not scratch each other.
- A pouch, a lined box or the packaging your order arrived in all work well.
- Store somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight.
Worth avoiding
- Chlorine and hot tubs. Not a disaster, but not a daily habit either.
- Bleach and household cleaners.
- Sleeping in delicate chains, which tend to kink rather than tarnish.
Chains and clasps
Open a clasp by the clasp itself rather than pulling the chain. Most broken necklaces are not a quality problem, they are a habit problem.
